A Religious Walk in Nafplio: 7 Churches in One Route
Nafplio has concentrated some of modern Greece's most dramatic stories inside its churches — a religious walk here is as historical as it is spiritual.
In-Town Route (4 Churches, on Foot)
Stop 1: Saint George — The cathedral where Kapodistrias was mourned and King Otto first entered.
Stop 2: Saint Spyridon — A few minutes' walk above Syntagma Square. The assassination bullet is still embedded in the wall.
Stop 3: Panagia — Hidden behind the Archaeological Museum.
Stop 4: Catholic Church — Uphill from Saint Spyridon, in the "Fragomahalas" neighbourhood.
Stop 5 (optional): Saint Nicholas — Head down to the harbour.
By Car: Two Monasteries Outside Town
