For the first time Run Greece race in Nafplio
The historic city of Nafplio was chosen as the second stop of the Run Greece series of road races, organized throughout the territory by SEGAS.
The addition of the Argolic city was proposed by the newly elected Mayor of Nafplion, Dimitris Orfanos, a proposal that was officially accepted by the president of SEGAS, Sofia Sakoraffa. The match will be held on Sunday, April 21.
The agreement was ratified during their meeting at the City Hall of the city, in the presence of the second vice-president of SEGAS, Iakovos Petsoulas and the Vice-Mayors of the Department of Town Planning and Quality of Life Ilias Mantzavrakou, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Konstantinos Karapavlos, Finance, Giorgos Frangioudakis and Cleanliness, Environment and Prasinou, Konstantinas Karagiannis.
"The natural beauty of Nafplion and the wider area is unparalleled and seems like an ideal destination for holding an important running race, such as Run Greece. It is also a very close destination to the capital, a combination that gives a particularly attractive tone to the race. With the valuable help of the Municipality of Nafplion and the Mayor Dimitris Orphanos personally, whose initiative is the proposal to include Nafplion in the Run Greece series of races, I am convinced that those who take part will experience an unforgettable experience", said the president of SEGAS, Sofia Packing needle.
For his part, the host of the meeting, Mayor of Nafplio Dimitrios Orfanos underlined: "We welcome the acceptance of our proposal by SEGAS regarding the holding of the 2nd Run Greece in Nafplio, on April 21, 2024. We are happy because our municipality has all the potential to be a destination for major sporting events. Our priority is the quality improvement of our sports events and in this context we want important bodies such as SEGAS on our side. The strengthening of cooperation as well as good practices were the focus of our meeting today."
Run Greece started as an institution in 2013 and this will be the first time it will be hosted in Nafplio.
