Karnazeika

Karnazaiika are from the lowland villages on the border of Nafplio just 22 km and next to Iria.

The settlement is built at an altitude of about 50 meters and is divided into Upper Karnazaiika and Lower Karnazaiika.

The name Karnazaiika originates from the majestic landowner Karnezis who lived in the area.

It is located in a green area after the river Rados passes by and so it is offered for a visit beyond the ordinary in a forest full of pine trees that if you go to the top of the mountain you will end up in the Monastery of Avgo.

The Holy Monastery of Avgo took part in the Revolution of 1821 where Archimandrite Dionysios served as a reserve under the command of Arsenios Krestas, the famous Paparsenes during the Revolution.

It was fired in 1825 by Ibrahim and re-operated shortly after the revolution where it was definitely closed by royal decree in 1833.

In the Karnazaiika, ancient phrythories have been found, it is a system of communication between areas for fire / smoke alarm alerts, and so it appears that the area has been inhabited since ancient times.

The area is famous for the mining and processing of the well-known beige marble.

Karnazaiika belong to the municipal unit of Asini of the Municipality of Nafplion and appears under the name of Karnazaiika.
